Toni Morrison once said, “If there is a book that you want to read, but it hasn’t been written yet, you must be the one to write it.” We must create, imagine and re-imagine the world we want to see. Octavia Butler showed us: Afrofuturism is our saving grace.

An art exhibition in virtual 3D space is ephemeral. To fully experience immersion in the space you have to be there via your avatar. However, before the show disappears people can capture some aspects of the experience. Mab MacMoragh did this when creating an animated film of my Alternate Futures sims (simulations) in Second Life. Viewers are re-immersed in the world I created that explored “Afrofuturist cultural production,” then sponsored by IBM Exhibition Space. Here’s the film:
